STRUCTURE AND LEADERSHIP

ETC is a joint venture owned by Urenco and Orano. We operate from sites in five countries: Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, France and the USA.

ETC's Company Structure

ETC has permanent sites at Jülich in Germany, Almelo in the Netherlands, and Capenhurst in the UK. We also have a permanent team based at the Orano nuclear site in Tricastin, France and at the Urenco site in Eunice, New Mexico, USA.

ETC’s main corporate entity is based in the UK, while we run operating companies in each of the countries where we are present.

Executive Team

Reinhard Hinterreither

Chief Executive Officer

Reinhard was appointed CEO in 2013, after joining ETC as Chief Operations Officer in 2010. Before joining ETC Reinhard was President and CEO of Louisiana Energy Services LLC, a wholly owned Urenco subsidiary. Before that he was Executive Director of Risk & Business Support at Urenco Ltd.

Reinhard holds an MBA from Texas A&M, a Masters in Technical Physics from Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Austria, and an Electrical Engineering degree from the Higher Technical Institute (HTL), also in Linz.

Arnaud Pollono

Chief Financial Officer

Arnaud is ETC’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining ETC in 2023, he worked at Orano as Finance Director for the Tricastin and Malvesi sites within the Chemistry and Enrichment Business Unit. Prior to that, he worked as Finance Director at Ambatovy in Madagascar in the field of nickel and cobalt mining with responsibility for large investments. Other previous roles include: financial leadership positions at Katco in Almaty, Kazakhstan where Arnaud worked as CFO for one of the world’s biggest uranium mines; for the Orano/Dongfang Joint Venture in Deyang, China, as head of financial controlling; and prior to that at the Orano (then Areva) headquarters in Paris, where he started his career as financial auditor.

Arnaud Pollono holds a degree from Rouen Business School, France, in Business Administration with a focus on International Management, Accounting and Finance.

Ian Crombie

Project Director

Ian became the Site Director of ETC’s UK operations at Capenhurst in 2020. Ian has spent 39 years in the Nuclear industry, all of them based at the Capenhurst site. Prior to joining Urenco he worked for BNFL, supporting the development of centrifuge technology. He joined Urenco Enrichment Technology in 2004, as a Mechanical and Process Design Manager, and transferred into ETC when it was formed.

Ian holds an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Liverpool University and also undertook post-graduate studies in Process Integration at the University of Manchester.

Pieter Folkers

Commercial Director

Pieter joined ETC when it started in 2006, having previously worked at Urenco for more than 10 years. Before becoming Commercial Director, he worked as QA Manager and Procurement Manager and has broad international experience in various industry sectors. Pieter is a joint Managing Director of ETC’s subsidiary, Pronexos.

He graduated from the University of Twente in the Netherlands with a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering.

Leon Lagendijk

Site Director Etc Nederland

Leon is the Site Director of ETC’s Dutch site and operations in Almelo, The Netherlands, and also the Managing Director of our subsidiary, Pronexos B.V., which operates from the same site. Leon joined ETC in 2008, having previously been Plant Manager for Impress Metal Packaging B.V. He has also held positions at Fokker Aircraft and Urenco in the Netherlands.

Leon graduated from Delft University of Technology with a Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. He also holds a Business Development qualification from the London Business School.

Andreas Scholz

Site Director Etc Deutschland

Andreas is the Site Director of ETC’s German operations at Jülich. Following his long-term appointment as Head of Research and Development at ETC, Andreas possesses great company knowledge, having seen our business develop since 1994. As a physicist he has great technical expertise alongside his established management experience.

Andreas studied at Technische Universität Kaiserslautern, Germany, gaining his PhD in Physics.

Michael Smith

General Counsel & Company Secretary

Michael joined ETC in 2004 and is the Company Secretary and General Counsel. During this time, Michael has overseen ETC’s legal requirements and obligations in areas such as corporate governance, intellectual property, joint ventures and change management, working across European and American legal jurisdictions.

Michael holds a BA in English Language and Literature from Swansea University.

Hedwig Snijders

Group Supply Chain & Business Transformation Director

Hedwig joined ETC in 2008 and has held a wide range of key roles, including running ETC’s new manufacturing sites and managing ETC’s business transformation. Based in Almelo, she is now ETC’s Operations Support Director, taking responsibility for the smooth running of all ETC operations across four countries.

Hedwig holds Masters qualifications from Eindhoven University of Technology (in Technological Design) and University of Groningen (Mathematics).

The ETC Board of Directors

The ETC Board of Directors includes CEO Reinhard Hinterreither and CFO Arnaud Pollono, along with two directors appointed by each of the shareholders, Orano and Urenco. The current Chairman of the ETC Board of Directors is Chris Chater of Urenco. The Chair rotates between the shareholders on a regular basis.
